TPMtv at Netroots Nation: Speaker Nancy Pelosi
This morning Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) gave a speech and town hall session to the NN crowd that included a surprise appearance by former Vice President Al Gore. Afterwards TPMtv caught up with Madam Speaker and asked her, among other things, what she thought of Bush's new "general time horizon" for withdrawal from Iraq. Her reply: "Same old, same old, same old, same old." Four same olds!
"What are they going to say?" Pelosi asked rhetorically. "They have not said anything as a matter of fact. Aspirational goals, which means it could be ten years."
"This administration knows that it could have made this same statement a long time ago, and they're I think being embarrassed into saying something by al-Maliki saying, 'It's time for you to go.' So I don't place a lot of confidence in that."
And later: "I think this is just more of the same from the administration knowing that the American people have long abandoned their support of this war and now they're trying to sound, dare I say the word, reasonable. But I think it's just more of the same."

Sorry - but there is zero courage involved for pelosi to be hitting mr. 26 percent when he's got 6 months left in office.
2 years ago, "impeachment was off the table" and we've handed bush co. every war funding bill (and fisa ffs!) since. You should have strapped on a pair and showed some real courage about 18 months ago, madame speaker. You have simply shown yourself to be part of the problem and not the solution. Hopefully Waxman will be able to teach you a think or 2.

Someone should ask her why it is she supports torture. After all, those who allow the torturers to go free are condoning it...
Pelosi believes torture is a non punishable act. I'll bet she would turn in anyone who attempted to torure her, though...
The democrats are just as bad as the republicans when they protect those who have allowed tens of thousands to die and for both innocent and guilty alike to be tortured without any accountability...
I also firmly believe those who vote these folks in after knowing the facts are doing the same... sins of omission, i believe it is called. Of course now days, the democrats are identifying themselves as christians also...

Nancy Pelosi is 100% full of crap. Even when she's right, she's wrong. She calls Bush a "total failure" and suggests "the Emperor has no clothes". All true. Meanwhile, she's done almost NOTHING constructive in her job as Democratic leader of the Democratic majority in the U.S. House of Representatives. This is a great example of the pot calling the kettle black. Pelosi is simply using Bush's incompetence to draw attention away from her own. Bush is a nitwit, and ignoramus, and an incompetent piece of crap. Pelosi is easily as bad, if not worse.

Well, having read Nancy Pelosi on George Bush, my response, to coin a phrase, is "same old, same old, same old, same old" (four same olds). It would be funny if it were not frightening. I find this fearfully of a piece with the end of the Roman Republic and the end of Weimar. And I am given no comfort by Obama (that he's better than Clinton is very far from good enough for what's needed). Where are the sober establishment men who have a lot to lose, an education to tell them how close they are to losing it, and the skill and energy to do something about it? Reading about the brilliance of the various campaign gurus is like reading about competing floral arrangements on the tables as the Titanic went down.
