TPMtv: Just a Matter of History

It was funny. TPMtv was actually planning on making today's episode a highlight reel of McCain surrogates Rudy Giuliani, Tim Pawlenty, and Bobby Jindal, among others, hammering and hammering away over the past three days on the point that John McCain supported the surge of troops in Iraq and Barack Obama did not; that John McCain was right about the surge and Barack Obama was wrong (you can see McCain himself pushing this point pretty strenuously in Monday's episode). While it's indisputable that McCain favored the surge from the very beginning and that Obama opposed it ('right' and 'wrong' is a little trickier to argue since obviously no one knows what would've happened without the surge), it seems that this lone, backward-looking point of distinction has become the central argument of McCain's entire candidacy.

So TPMtv had all the interview clips lined up in its final cut pro machine and was just cracking its knuckles to get started editing when it discovered, in spite of the CBS Evening News's apparent best efforts, that John McCain told Katie Couric last night that the troop surge in Iraq "began the Anbar awakening." As Spencer Ackerman hastened to point out, this is completely, er, wrong. And hence, TPMtv's highlight reel about John McCain being right about the surge was preempted by a highlight reel about John McCain being wrong about the surge:

What happened to the video? All I get is "we're sorry this video is no longer available."

works for me.

I can't view it here (damn office filters) but on the Veracifier site, it seemed like this show and the next (It's the surge, stupid) were the same set of clips. Was there some point (after several minutes) where they diverged? Or was something mis-linked?
