CNN: Obama, Anti-Christ - DISCUSS.
Last night on CNN's Election Center program, host Campbell Brown and her panel of guests tackled perhaps the most important question one can ask when deciding which candidate to vote for to be the next president of the United States of America: is that candidate... the anti-Christ?
[Ed. note: TPMtv fully acknowledges that some of the clips in this video were taken slightly out of context, but they were all from the same eight-or-so-minute segment. Consider it an impressionistic representation of what TPMtv took away from the viewing. You can read the actual transcript here. Special thanks to TPM reader DC for the tip on this one.]
:37 By far TPMtv's favorite form of journalism is putting words into Google and seeing how many results come back. This CNN segment noted that "A Google search for Obama and anti-Christ returns an incredible 900,000 hits." That could mean a few different things though, so let's just check the different options, all this of course as of the time this blog post went to press:
Google results for...
obama anti-christ (without quotation marks): about 1,350,000 for obama anti-christ. (0.12 seconds)
"obama anti-christ" (with quotes): about 37,000 for "obama anti-christ". (0.42 seconds)
obama antichrist (without quotes): about 821,000 for obama antichrist. (0.17 seconds)
"obama antichrist" (with quotes): about 80,600 for "obama antichrist". (0.09 seconds)
obama poop (without quotes): about 922,000 for obama poop. (0.23 seconds)
"obama poopy pants" (with quotes): 1 for "obama poopy pants". (0.42 seconds)
And for your full edification, that 1 result can be found here.

He can't be the anti-Christ, because I am the antic-Christ. (Boo!)
A more interesting discussion would be whether the main stream media has taken on the roll of the so called anti-Chirst, whatever the heck that is supposed to mean. I'll assume something that is very, very, very bad for you. So, here's one vote for yes.

"John McCain" and "antiChrist" -- about 430,000, including this:
What started us looking at this issue is the fact that Senator McCain has declared his intention to maintain US forces in Iraq for a hundred years," said David Jenkins, a leading Biblical scholar. "That means that McCain wants to control Babylon for at least a century." According to many scholars of the Book of Revelation, the Antichrist will try to rebuild the ancient city of Babylon in order to use it as a springboard for an international effort at world domination.
It gets better:
Jenkins said his teams suspicions were further heightened when genealogical research showed that McCain's great-grandfather was actually not John McCain, but John Mihai. Mihai is an ancient Romanian name, and according to Bible-believing Christians, the Antichrist is likely to be a Romanian. "What clinched it for us was that the name Mihai means 'who is like the Lord,'" said Jenkins. "As far as we're concerned, that was enough. It means that McCain might easily pretend to be the Redeemer."
Who am I to argue with evidence like that?
It would also explain why McCain's smile looks more like a painful grimace -- he's trying to keep his head from splitting open and letting Satan out.

Shouldn't this strategy backfire? If you really want to immanentize the eschaton then wouldn't you vote for Obama to get the show on the road? Ready for Rapture? Vote Obama!

Those believing that Obama is the Anti-Christ are probably the same people who believe that they should support Israel in order to hasten Armageddon, because that, in turn, would hasten the second coming of Christ.
By the same reasoning, since the second coming can't happen until AFTER the Anti-Christ appears, they should SUPPORT Barack's candidacy.

Johnny Rotten was the anti-Christ. Or at least *an* anti-Christ. But then he sold out.

Gee, I thought McCain's bravado about following our enemy through the gates of hell (unless that version of hell is found in Afghanistan, of course), I thought he was referring to OBL.
That said, I can't help but think who'd Jesus would more likely support... last time I checked, he wasn't much a fan of the Roman Empire the first time around either. Not especially after that whole nailing-up-on-a-cross episode.
Conversely, could the GOP's presidential candidate then be... Judas?

I can't wait until your hard-hitting and super-serious report: "Does Obama want to date your white daughter?"
