TPMtv: Sunday Show Roundup: Georgia Veep Sweeps

The crisis in Georgia provided all the potential vice presidential candidates a crucible in which to do some last-second cramming for the big #2 job. We see how they did in today's Sunday Show Roundup:

1:27 He's not considered a viable VP candidate, but as far as TPMtv can tell Tom Daschle is the only or one of the very few prominent Obama surrogates so far to come out and really hit McCain on the Czechoslovakia / Iraq-Pakistan border slip-ups. Bully to Tom.

3:48 Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa. McCain presumptuous??? No. Sorry to inform you, Senator Claire McCaskill of Missouri, but you've clearly made an error. Obama is the presumptuous one. Duh. Giving a big speech in Europe before you're president = presumptuous. Conducting your very own foreign policy during a world crisis before you're president = the American president Americans have been waiting for [sic].

5:15 Not really sure why, but TPMtv just loves the look on Tim Pawlenty's face right here:

Adorable.

5:27 Oh yeah. That's right about Evan Bayh. Wow he should really not be an Obama VP candidate wow.

In general TPMer Ezra notes, and TPMtv agrees wholeheartedly - the Bayh-Pawlenty showdown on Face the Nation yesterday may have been the most stunningly vanilla and bland debate in the history of Sunday morning political talk shows. TPMtv might have to give up on Mittford Romney and start pulling for these two fellows to be the VPs just so it can watch all the televisions simultaneously implode when they take the stage together for the October 2 vice presidential debate. TPMtv isn't totally sure why the two of them onstage together would make all the TVs implode, but it's almost positive something like this would happen.

6:07 "Defeat it." Ohhhhhhh SNAP. TPMtv is doing the terrified jazz hands and quaking in its ill-fitting python boots. But seriously, McCain, what are you, 8? I am John McCain. I am the best! I will defeat all the evil with my awesome machine guns! Ok, fine. I mean I understand what you're trying to do there. But so then maybe tell your friend Mitt Romney to cool it with the negotiation talk. Pretty sure negotiating never defeated jack. Here's the full "defeat it" exchange from the Saddleback Presidential Candidates Forum Saturday night:

6:25 Ha ha, Eric Cantor, ha ha! Way to talk on TV via satellite, Mr. No-Satellite! (Who's 8 now, eh?)
