Slam Slam, Slam Slam, Slammin' Machine
You might be familiar with Austan Goolsbee as the Obama economic advisor whose name was in the headlines for a brief but torrid period back in the spring due to a weird flap involving Canada and Obama's position on NAFTA. Goolsbee hasn't made many TV appearances in the past, but TPMtv certainly hopes more are coming in the future. Here's a mini-reel of his various frustrations of McCain economic advisor Douglas Holtz-Eakin yesterday on CNN's Late Edition. The guy is a one-man slam factory!
:21 It's a little strange for a guy that was cheerleader for a team of arsonists to now be coming forward and say he'd be a great fire department chief. [Slam!]
1:09 What I shudder to think is what would have to happen for John McCain to think the fundamentals were looking a little iffy? [Warning: Overuse may result in slammage!]
1:47 There is more information on the back of a box of Froot Loops than on what they've presented. [Phi Slama Jama!!!]
1:52 If John McCain objected so much to the lobbying behavior of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac as opposed to the content, why did he hire their strong-arm lobbyist as his campaign manager? It doesn't make any sense. [Eh, a valid point.]
Also - :37 mark. Was this Goolsbee half-yawning or was it more like one of those "Ok, easy... be cool Gools, be cool... hold back the firestorm" self-composing gestures someone performs right after suffering an indignity and right before the first bottle gets smashed to spark a massive bar brawl? TPMtv likes to think it's the latter.

I have a feeling the Goolsbee style is going to appeal to a lot of "Reagan Youth" throwbacks. Guys who wanted to be Alex Keaton on "Family Ties" back when they were in school.
We're gonna need to see a lot more of blue-collar Biden though if they expect to win this thing. People need to here he's like totally the poorest senator.
(This is all very superficially conveyed and overbearing punditry on my part, but hell, it's the internet.)

Please, sir. Superficially conveyed and overbearing punditry has absolutely no place in the blogosphere, LEAST OF ALL the highly respected pages of TPMtv. (love the Alex Keaton reference)

(Thanks!)
I just wish I had spelled "hear" correctly, instead of writing "here."
