The worst moment of the night is when Palin told Biden that his wife, a school teacher, would get her reward in heaven. This, with the knowledge that Biden's first wife and child had been killed in a car accident was cruel and uncalled for.
The way she put it it kinda sounded like a threat, honestly :(
Did I hear a murmur of disapproval from the crowd, when Palin ignored Biden's moment of grief and burbled on about nothing?
This would have played differently in the post-debate chatter had Senator Biden so callously ignored such a personal, emotional response from Governor Palin and simply resumed reciting talking points.
Gov. Palin was not paying attention, and certainly not in the moment with the millions of people who were listening to Sen. Biden.
Ignorance and arrogance, both in the same little Palin package. Ignorance to make the 'reward in heaven' remark after what Senator Biden has gone through and arrogance to say they're going to improve education, but implying that teachers can only expect their reward in the afterlife.
I thought she was an Evangelical "Show Me The Money" Christian and not a Catholic.
May we be rid of this woman soon please?
I agree! I was infuriated with the way she 1) referred to someone else's dead with her own religious agenda, and 2) said it in such a flip way, almost like a joke. However, I was pleased that it gave him 100% permission to bring up his status as a single parent and widower in a way that countered Palin's constant references to herself as wife and mother. Had she not so callously brought up Biden's personal tragedy, he may have been criticized for “playing a sympathy card."
Couldn't agree more. Biden put it away here. And palin asisted by being so tone-deaf and leaping, not only to a talking point, but the "maverick" dead horse she overbeat all night.
Looking back after they take this election to the bank, pundits will admit that this was the moment Joe took it away. One honest moment of emotion trumps sparkling smiles and winks all the way. She was practiced, rehearsed, and mostly on-book, but she wasn't real and she sure as hell wasn't competent.
